What Does Tranquility Mean?

Tranquility is a word that conjures up a sense of calm, peace, and serenity. To me, it is the feeling of being in harmony with the world. It is the absence of chaos and confusion and an understanding of one’s self and surroundings. It is a place where we can find stillness within ourselves and our environment.

Tranquility requires balance: balance between body and mind and balance between inner peace and external chaos. It is not about running away from problems but instead facing them with courage and equanimity. Tranquility exists when we allow ourselves to be present in the moment without judgment or attachment to outcomes. It exists when we can find joy, contentment, and appreciation in the small things that life has to offer us each day.

Tranquility is composed of many elements that combine to create a state of harmony, such as mindfulness, gratitude, acceptance, self-care, kindness, patience, and humility.
